The legal duty

Law 18-01 (also spelled 18/01) requires every employer to take out work-accident insurance. It protects employees against accidents by reason of or in the course of work, including the home-to-work journey.

02

Contractual benefits

Medical, pharmaceutical, appliance and prosthesis costs; funeral costs reimbursed on a fatal accident; daily allowance of two-thirds of daily pay; capital if permanent incapacity is under 10%; annual lifetime annuity at or above 10%; annuity for dependants (widow, orphans, dependant ascendants).

03

Extending to occupational diseases

In some sectors (chemicals, mining, construction), extending cover to occupational diseases beyond the work-accident baseline is recommended.
